Brilliant behind-the-back catch the highlight of college football's opening weekend

We take a look at some of our favourite plays from Saturday’s action.

6. Hurly Gurley’s kick return

SB Nation SB Nation

Todd Gurley had an opening weekend to remember for Georgia as he rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns as well as returning a kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown in his team’s rout of Clemson.

5. Someone sign this kid up

Gurley’s fast, but we think this ball boy would beat him. All eyes should have been on Auburn’s Melvin Ray as he dashed 49 yards for a touchdown but the sprint from the ball boy is incredible.

4. Nothing’s going to bring Russell Hansbrough down

You have to question some of the South Dakota State tackling but Hansbrough does well to make the most of a busted play to score a 10-yard touchdown for Missouri.

3. Jameis Winston makes an early case for Heisman repeat

Jameis Winston helped his team to the national title in 2013 and, with plays like this one against Oklahoma State, you’d expect the Florida State quarterback go close again this year.

2. Why use two hands when one will do?

AJ Stamps made our favourite defensive play of the day with this one-handed interception against Tennessee-Martin quarterback Dylan Favre, a nephew of the legendary Brett Favre.

1. Will this be the catch of the year?

Jordan Westerkamp didn’t need to make this catch as Nebraska were well in control against Florida Atlantic but we’re glad he did. Woof.
